That's kinda like saying automobiles and airplanes were "pretty useful" inventions. I've played damned near every (sane) PvE war build possible, and nothing surpasses Godmode. Only [earth shaker] builds can rival it--and for a completely different reason (AoE KD rather than SY-spamming).
As usual, Arkantos is right about everything in this thread.

Probably because when you DSlash, you see a triple digit number. When you ES, everything just falls down. ES is more interesting in that aspect, I suppose, but then I'm not a member of the Urf Shakur fanclub so I don't see the omgftw appeal.

Compared to earth shaker, it's garbage. Weakness isn't that good, and AoE knockdown > single target knockdown, by a long shot.

#1, use [Auspicious Blow], with an enfeebling blood necro everything should be weakened anyway, or you could stick [Withering aura] on a MM hero( they will maintain it on you as much as possible in a fight, even any /N hero with minimal death can keep it up a good long time) and use crude swing or whirling to apply it AoE style. Or learn to use a [counter blow][pulverizing smash][auspicious blow] chain to attack stuff(everything in PvE auto attacks, and E-smash will juice that combo every 5 seconds, it's hilarious in RA). Baring that, you have Staggering Blow, run with rayway smiters, one with Strength of Honor and Judges insight to buff your damage, great VS jotuns and other giants, scan and whack. A-Blow is my hammer's energy dynamo, it fuels asuran scan so I can run with discord necroes or spam power attack or crude swing, and with my new N/P buddy juicing my adrenaline with [inspirational speech] between fights I never miss D-Slash.
#2, fight hard mode grawl udolytes and hard mode shiverpeak protectors, maguuma protectors and assorted other tyrian casters. I just beat the tyrian vanquisher title, and I can tell you, they haul effing ass, the only way I could take these guys was with the new e-smash or bulls before that. Assuming you asuran scanned it, when you finally put it's face in the dirt with E-smash it's a 200+ crit. I used holiday booze and [drunken master] to run them down. I've noticed in factions eotn and NF HM, the AI is different, stuff doesn't seem to run as much, but in tyria it does, especiallyin the 4-6 man zones.

I'd argue with that, swords are gimped in the way that d-slash is really the only elite worth.
Outside farming 100blades is somewhat useless, [[quivering blade] is interesting but if I want an unconditional daze I just bring a BHA ranger that lasts way longer. [[crippling slash] is good as well but it's main advantage is that it allows to condense the bar a little more, it's more pvp oriented imo.
On axes [[decapitate] is the only elite that isn't worth much, it's drawback is too much. Everything else has it's place even if on certain situations. You're right on hammers though, it has some useful skills but everything pretty much falls short compared to earth shaker.

Agree with this, I've been using a scythe build more and more and each time growing fonder of it, beeing able to hit 3 enemies at once is the thing I've always loved about in scythes. Higher dps than anything else.

I don't see why this is even a question when it comes to PvE. IMO, the godmode sword build is probably one of the most useful builds in the game. If your team needs defense, you can spam SY. If your team needs extra offense, you can spam D-slash. If your team needs an enemy to be shut down, you can bring brawling headbutt and completely disable it. Basically, one build can pretty much do it all.
Now of course, that is just one elite. Quivering blade's damage is similar to that of D-slash, and if you bring plague touch youc an often inflict daze to enemies. Hundred blades is also awesome. Coupled with ebon battle standard of honor, barbs, splinter weapon, etc, it is possible to destroy tightly packed groups of monsters in a couple whirlwind attacks. In my experience, it has made vanquishing much faster and easier.
Of course, that is just PvE. If we are to look at PvP, then I would say they are all about equal. Swords are great for spreading conditions (crip slash), axes are great for spikes and constant pressure, and hammers have many knock downs to cause the other team to rage. It all depends what you are looking for in a build. As others have said, there is no clear best in PvP.

d-slash godmode build it's quite effective ,but like the imbagon ,spamming d-slash and sy all day becomes boring really fast, therefore from my pve warrior experience i had more fun playing with builds around this elites [hundred blades],[earth shaker],[warrior's endurance](with an axe or scythe). Also unless u are doing some elite area u do not need to maintain sy all the time.
